Department Profile
The Department started functioning in the year 2002 with the prime objective bridging the gap between IT industry and academics. The Master of Computer Applications is a three years course, Affiliated to Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. This is the First PG course and standalone department of the college. The M.C.A. Department is bestowed with an experienced team of faculty members with excellent academic records and proficiency. Excellent infrastructure, state-of-the-art computers with advanced technology and comprehensive study material makes the Department a class apart.
The M.C.A. Department helps in providing the I.T. and Computer Industry with world-class talent and creating some of the finest software professionals every year. By providing concept-oriented subject knowledge through a high quality teaching that is supplemented with practical training, the Department aims to bring out brightest minds into the world of computers and technology.
The success of the M.C.A. Department is attributed to its motivating and inspiring faculty members who handle subjects like Software Project Management, Computer Networks, Data Warehousing and Data Mining, Visual Programming , E-Learning and much more. The students gain high quality learning in several subjects.
The department has excelled in its teaching learning methodology and has consistent good academic track and prepares the students in a variety of areas employing various teaching and training methodologies and putting priority to the practical perspective. Students have also excelled in curricular and co-curricular activities and won laurels in competitions, intercollegiate fests.
The teaching and research activities are supported by a team of Professor, Assistant Professors and Lecturers who provide high standards of teaching and learning and who are well qualified and experienced in their fields of study. The Department is well structured and built with spacious and well ventilated class rooms. ISTE Students chapter is functioning in the department.
The Institution at the end of a major portion of the syllabi invites a senior Professor, or a Research scholar from institutions like Anna University, Bharathidasan University and industries to teach students on topics that are of current interest at regular intervals.
Industrial Visit
The College helps the students in organizing Industrial visits and tour to various companies located across the country to give them a real life exposure of how the industry appears in practical. In the past 1 year, the students have been taken to Industries like INFOSYS Pvt Ltd., Bangalore.
DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES
Department frequently arrange Seminars / Training courses expert lecturers on advanced topics like 'FPGA', ' Power quality', etc.,
One of our student Mr.S.Venugopal had secured 47 th rank in Anna university-Chennai out of 9499 students.
The department also conducts mini project competition during our symposium to exhibit the students practical strength.
The students are encouraged to participate in State and National level symposia, extra curricular activities and conferences. They have won many prizes in the above said activities.
Due to quality academic standard of the Department, the students of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering program have been consistently performing well and securing good marks in University examinations. Thus the result and the placement of the Department is increasing every year.
The Industrial visit enables the students come Face to Face with the challenges of an industrial environment and update themselves on various technical activities.

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY
The department Library has 1000 titles and 4000 volumes of books apart from the main library. In addition, leading Technical journals and magazines are also available in the library.
