Department Profile
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is as popular as ever - even in a highly changeable market. The last century that gave us the computer age, and it's fairly apparent that the Internet will do much to shape the course of this one. What is equally true is that for the first time, the world economy is truly global, where what happens in one part of the world is not only known almost simultaneously to the occurrence of the event, but the impact can be felt as well. Customers and competitors are no longer limited to the geography that surrounds them. In fact, many businesses no longer have a traditional brick and mortar operation. Within this complex setting, the modern manager must still do what managers in every era have had to do to succeed. For many, the M.B.A. continues to be the cornerstone for such success. Our M.B.A. programme has supplemented a core of business courses, with a growing number of electives, concentrations and areas in which the M.B.A. student can specialize. In like fashion, MBA programme have worked vigorously to make certain that the make up of their student bodies are as diverse as the global economy in which the M.B.A. graduate must work. Finally, M.B.A. programme have done much to make certain that the case studies that comprise a great portion of the classroom pedagogical experience, reflects what is happening in the marketplace. These qualities make our M.B.A. one of the best investments a person can make.
Affiliation and Duration of the MBA Programme
M.B.A. Programme is renowned for its extensive and in depth coverage of core and specialized courses, creating innovation and entrepreneurial qualities. The Programme is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Government of India and Affiliated with the Anna University of Technology Coimbatore, Coimbatore. Our M.B.A. Programme has spanning over two years; it is designed to provide students with first-hand experience of corporate culture.
Course Structure
Our course structure which is closely aligned with the business requirements in today's scenario. The focus of the course is on producing fundamentally sound managers who are ready to hit the ground running when they enter the corporate world. The first year of the course concentrates on imparting management fundamentals like Management and Organizational Behavior, Quantitative Methods for Management, Managerial Economics, Disaster Management, Accounting for Managers, Management Information System, Indian Ethos and Values, Production Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Research Methods in Business, International Business Management, Business Application Software etc. so that the students are introduced to the technical, economic, social and human side of management.
The Second year builds on these fundamentals and requires you to focus on their specializations by taking courses in the areas of marketing, finance, systems, operations and human resources. Along with these specialization courses, they get to study business strategy courses which focus on skills that enable managers to diagnose complex business situations and resolve strategic and organizational problems. These courses are supplemented by business simulation game that reinforces the classroom teachings and gives hands-on experience to the participants. In addition to these courses, they can opt for non-credit courses in each semester subject to the approval of the programme coordinator. The classroom sessions are supplemented by corporate sessions, guest lectures, field sessions, live projects, workshops and many such activities which ensure that the participant remains in touch with the corporate environment and learns the practical applications of the acquired knowledge.
Dual Specialization
The program's learning is benchmarked against the best in the world. Embedded with a truly global perspective, the curriculum has been moulded to equip students with the required skills and competencies. Students pursuing management course can opt for a dual specialization in any of the following streams.
- Marketing
- Finance
- Human Resource
- System
The program is spread across four Semesters with a summer internship and a main project work. While the first to semesters focus on building a strong foundation in the management discipline, the remaining two semesters enable the students to specialize in the area of their interest.
Pedagogy
Our department believes that there is no single and universal approach that suits all situations. Therefore, our faculty members use an array of teaching methodologies using different combinations with different group of students, thereby improving the learning experience. The whole gamut of teaching and learning methods include - case studies, role plays presentation on strategic and contemporary issues, simulation exercises, industrial visits, workshops, Guest Lecturers and seminars.
Department Activities
M.B.A. Department frequently conducts various programmes to convert the mindset of the students from class room to corporate level. We organized programmes like Entrepreneur Talk, Personality Development Programme, Employability Skills, Workshop and Training, Self-Development Programme, Corporate Kaleidoscope etc.

Internship programs are one of the best ways to bring the academic and business community together. It is a win-win situation for both the students of the institute as well as the company providing internship.

Main Project Work
The project work usually serve as an excellent channel for students to have close interaction with industry experts and therefore provide ample opportunity to the students to demonstrate their analytical and problem solving skills.
On preparation of project reports, there is a formal presentation session wherein we invite the faculty members from various specializations to assess student's work and share their valuable feedback.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT
By the students
Anna University of Technology, coimbatore has declared two gold medals in MBA Programme and both the gold medals were bagged by our students. Ms. G. Rekha, 2007-2009 batch MBA Student stood University 1st among One thousand nine hundred and sixty two students and Ms. T. Vennila, 2008-2010 batch MBA Student stood University 1st among Three Thousand three hundred and ninety students. Besides the receipt of gold medals, four more MBA Students of 2007-2009 batch have bagged university ranks and six more MBA students of 2008-2010 batch have bagged the university ranks.
By the Faculty Members
Through effective teaching – learning process which includes conduct of daily test, periodic internal examinations, intensive classes for slow learners, supply of study material which are prepared in examination point of view and continuous monitoring over the performance of students, the university examination results have been improved than the previous results. The maximum over all pass percentage produced by the MBA Department is 100% for the past two years.

INFRASTRUCTURE
MBA Block
MBA Block is located in a sprawling 1968 Sq. Meter with 4 floors and is situated in the prime area at the campus, free from pollution with right academic peaceful environment conducive for building a focused corporate career.
Class Rooms
The classrooms provide the most conducive atmosphere for dynamic and focused discussions. They have been designed to bring together analysis with action and are augmented by well equipped facilities. The air-conditioning in the classrooms creates the right atmosphere for long hours of learning. They are equipped with multimedia and audio-visual equipment to facilitate effective learning. They are designed to promote maximum interaction between the faculty and the students.
MBA Seminar Hall
The Seminar Hall has a capacity of 150 and is well equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual and presentation tools to facilitate smooth presentations. All the interactive sessions and the interface with the experts from the corporate world take place in this hall.
Library
The library has a rich collection of books and journals predominantly related to management and its allied subjects to meet the present and future information needs of its users. The vast reservoir of knowledge is a source of constant value addition for the knowledge seekers and mental stimulation which help updating the knowledge for the faculty and students alike. The department adds new books to the library every year. As a matter of policy, the department pays special attention to not only strengthening the library with additional books and journals, but also to ensure that they are utilized well by the students both for their courses as well as to extend the frontiers of their general knowledge. Audio and multimedia versions of some course modules are also available. The computerized library of the college provides students with connectivity to the latest technological material through networked work-stations. The department library is equipped with a collection of more than 3,732 books on management, with 15 International Journals, 20 National Journals, 15 National and International Magazines, 7 periodicals and 240 research reports. The library uses web-based software, for maintaining the database and circulation relating to daily operations. In addition to this, facilities like CD-ROM workstations, Audio-visual section with video and audio-cassettes are also available.
Computer Centre
The Centre has 61 LCD Systems with state-of-the-art hardware and software to meet the needs of students of Management and International Trade The office, the faculty rooms, the library and the computer centre are networked. The lab has a Broadband connection for Internet access.
