The Department was established in 2001.The Electronics and Communication Engineering is a four year course, affiliated to Anna University of Technology Coimbatore and approved by AICTE. The Department has Separate building block with spacious lecture halls and also have well outfitted laboratories. It has highly qualified; motivated and experienced faculty specialized in various areas with wide industrial R&D exposure.IETE student's chapter is functioning in the department.

SOFTWARE

The department has all authorized software and tools as per syllabus. They include C, C++, MATLAB 6.1 version, and C 50 debugger, XILINX, NETSIM, WINSPICE and MULTISIM etc.

LABORATORY

Six separate well equipped laboratories are available with adequate facilities to provide individual training. The laboratory has advanced electronic design tools like MULTISIM, ORCAD, SPICE and XILINX

INTERNET FACILITY

• High – speed RF wireless tower with 2 mbps connectivity,

LIBRARY

Around 2700 volumes of books with 1050 titles are stoked in the library. It includes 20 national and 22 international journals. Separate department library with 350 volumes of books which includes curriculum based and general technical books are also available.

TEACHING AIDS

Apart from the conventional teaching methods, the classes are conducted with LCD based multimedia projector and OHPs.The department uses various presentation techniques such as prototype demonstration, charts etc.

ASSOCIATION

The department Association "TRAGGA TALENTA" is providing an opportunity to the members &other college students to participate national level seminars and develop their presentation skills. It also made a wide platform for young talents to exhibit their various skills such as software coding, ad sap, general knowledge, intellectual games etc. It organizes various guest lectures and workshops by experts from industries.

INDUSTRY-INSTITUTION INTERACTION

Industry-institution interaction is functioning in the department as an opportunity for interaction between industries and the college. The innovative ideas of the students can be pooled for commercial applications. Also it will help the industries to keep abreast with the developments in the fields of Engineering and Technology. The department provides regular In-plant training to students. It also conducts Industrial Visits to various well profile establishments such as ISRO, and other software industries etc.

ACHIEVEMENTS

• The department has produced good quality results in various subjects in Anna University examinations.
• Our students have won several prizes and awards from various colleges during the inter-collegiate competition. In 2009-2010 academic years they won 95 prizes from 51 distinguished colleges in various Indian states.
• In the academic year of 2010-2011 they conquered 89 prizes from 32 colleges on various discipline.
• Around 200 students are participated every year for various events and curricular activities.
• IETE student's chapter is in operation.
• Providing the value added courses like "EMBEDDED SOFTWARE", C-PROGRAMMING etc by well-known academicians.
• Department also offer additional coaching for students in aptitudes, verbal reasoning and problem solving to make them fit for various high profile examinations.
