B.E. Civil Engineering

Department Profile

Civil engineering covers a broad range of engineering disciplines, and a civil engineer may choose to work in a private practice, in a public practice, or within the academic department to conduct research in civil engineering. A civil engineer who works in a private practice is usually involved with planning, designing, and construction of physical facilities used in the public sector. A civil engineer who works in academia is involved with teaching the fundamentals of civil engineering, and this may take place at the graduate or doctorate level. Research in this area is commonly used to make advances in the fields of civil and construction engineering, and helps with both city planning and regional developments.

With the advances in technology and the growing urban sprawl across the country, the demand for skilled civil and construction engineering graduates is rising. Long-term research and development projects are also growing in size and scope, and many civil engineering degree students who choose to further their education will enjoy promising job prospects. Earning potential for civil engineering careers varies depending on the field of expertise and skill level obtained. Civil engineers are expected to see average employment growth through 2014, and the most desirable area will be in infrastructure security. Employment opportunities vary by geographic area, and construction in major cities will likely provide the most opportunities.

The Department of Civil Engineering was started in the year 2004. The primary objective of the department is to impart education and training in Civil engineering at the under graduate level with special emphasis on designing and erection of structures. The accent on design implies that while the basic theoretical skills of the students are adequately developed, the program is oriented in such a way that students acquire an overall design perspective and attitude. The Civil engineering department is functioning in a multi- storied building having an instructional area of 1800 sq. mt.

Objective

The objective of Civil Engineering Department is to disseminate the knowledge above latest technologies in Civil Engineering to the students therefore they cater the demand of builders/contractors and construction industry in and around the institution as well as to the needs of the country and abroad.

Civil Engineering is committed to

  • Provide valuable based education in engineering technology and management.
  • Inculcate dedication, hard work, sincerity and ethics in building up the overall professional personality of our students and faculty.
  • Breed an inquisitive and creative research culture to help in the development of new knowledge and up gradation of existing knowledge using information and management technology.
  • Empower students to acquire current knowledge with ethics so as to meet the requirements of the nation in the knowledge world.
  • Offer consultancy services to organizations in analysis, design and planning of the civil engineering systems.

Mission

To endeavor and produce WHOLESOME Civil Engineers who can tackle.

  • The multiple responsibilities of analysis, design and construction of traditional and modern structures.
  • The problems encountered in the areas of environment, water resources, transport, urban planning & remote sensing.
  • The socio-cultural and economic range of civil engineering practice encompassing public utilities and services and
  • To impart education catering to process based functional design, analysis including computer based analysis, field design problems with relevant standards and construction and execution of housing, industrial, irrigation and environmental structures.
