Minor Degree / Honours Courses

Students who are desirous of pursuing their special interest areas other than the chosen discipline of Engineering may opt for additional courses in specializations offered by the parent department as Honours Degree and offered by the other departments as Minor Degree.

Under Graduate Degree Courses in Emerging / Multidisciplinary areas shall be allowed as specialization from the same department. The minimum additional credits for such courses shall be in the range for 18 – 20 (Including credit transferred from the SWAYAM platform) and the same shall be mentioned in the degree, as specialization in that particular area. For example, doing extra credits for Robotics in Mechanical Engineering shall earn B.E.(Hons.) Mechanical Engineering with Specialization in Robotics.

Minor Specialization in Emerging / Multidisciplinary areas in under graduate degree courses may be allowed where a student of another department shall take the minimum additional credits in the ranges of 18 – 20 and get a degree with minor from another department. For example, If B.E.-CSE student wants to do extra credits for Robotics course offered by Mechanical Engineering Department then degree will be given as B.E.- Computer Science and Engineering with Minor Degree in Robotics.

A student shall be permitted to register for a Minor Degree / Honours at the beginning of 3rd or 5th semester provided that the student must have acquired 7.5 CGPA (Cumulative Grade point average) up to the end of 2nd semester and 4th Semester respectively. Lateral entry students with 60% Marks in their Diploma are also eligible. A student shall earn 18-20 additional credits to be eligible for the award of B.E. / B.Tech (Minor Degree / Honours).
